Teaching and Learning Strategies -

UDL (Universal Design for Learning)

UDL is vital for students to learn in the way that they need to learn.

It gives students equal opportunity to learn in the classroom. The environment, materials, lessons need to be equally available for all students to access. For example, if a student has trouble with processing auditory information, then the student should have available the lessons in written format, visuals, and/or sensory involvement. And if the student has an issue with expressive language, but has excellent receptive language, then the classroom needs to be set up in a way for them to use cards, gestures, and proloquo.

Every student deserves the chance to learn in the way they need to learn. Barriers should not be the reason that a student can’t access, retrieve, or relay information.
